According to statistics from the General Department of Tourism, during the 5-day holiday from April 30 to May 1 (from April 27 to May 1, 2024), the tourism industry expects to serve an estimated 8.0 million visitors, a 14.2% increase over the same period in 2023, including about 3.6 million overnight visitors.
The average room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments nationwide reached about 60%, with some coastal destinations achieving an occupancy rate of 95-100% during peak days.
Most major tourist destinations across the country have recorded positive signs with an increase in visitors compared to the same period in 2023.
Among them, Thanh Hoa province took the lead in the number of tourists during the holiday, serving approximately 1,520,000 visitors, an increase of 27.2%. Total revenue from tourism reached about 3,805 billion VND, an increase of 32.8%.
Next, Quang Ninh served around 1,017,800 visitors, an increase of 48.0%. Total revenue from tourism reached about 2,210 billion VND, an increase of 53%.
Khanh Hoa served about 969,950 visitors, an increase of 21.5%. Total revenue from tourism reached about 1,306.7 billion VND, an increase of 53%.
Ho Chi Minh City served approximately 969,000 visitors, an increase of 2%. Total revenue from tourism was about 3,235 billion VND, up 3.4%.
Nghe An served around 950,000 visitors, an increase of 22%. Total revenue from tourism reached more than 1,700 billion VND.
Hanoi served approximately 737,900 visitors, an increase of 4%. Total revenue from tourism reached about 2,500 billion VND, up nearly 10%.
Ba Ria – Vung Tau served about 626,360 visitors, an increase of 25%. Total revenue from tourism reached about 712.8 billion VND, an increase of 12.49%.

The Tourism Department assessed that this year’s holiday lasted 5 days, so most destinations welcomed a higher number of visitors, a longer length of stay, and higher revenue compared to the same period in 2023.
It is noteworthy that the number of international visitors continued to grow even after the peak season. Room rates and tourism services did not fluctuate much.
Security and order, environmental sanitation, and food safety at destinations were ensured.
In addition, localities also took the initiative to prepare and organize many large-scale cultural events, festivals, and sports at the local level, tourism centers, especially the participation of businesses has created many new tourism products, stimulating the demand for entertainment, sightseeing, and relaxation during the holiday season and the 2024 summer tourist season.
