The “3-in-1” Formula: A New Approach to Destination Appeal
According to a survey by the travel platform Klook, 42% of Vietnamese tourists are motivated to visit a particular destination due to a specific event, such as festivals and music concerts. Klook also found that this segment of travelers tends to spend four to five times the cost of the event tickets on other tourism services.
Recognizing this potential, Hanoi aims to host approximately 30 international events annually as part of its 2021-2030 cultural industry development plan. By doing so, the city hopes to establish itself as “the city of events,” following in the footsteps of successful models like Seoul in South Korea and Montréal in Canada.
In addition to traditional tourist spots, a new entertainment hub is emerging in the eastern part of the city: Ocean City. Notably, the upcoming opening of “The Capital District” Vinhomes Ocean Park 2 will introduce a mega-complex featuring a shopping mall, a convention and wedding center, and a grand theater. This complex is expected to be one of the largest in Vietnam and will be designed based on renowned global landmarks such as Central Plaza in Thailand.
Stepping into the convention and wedding center, one is greeted by a regal ambiance reminiscent of a royal palace. The elegant interior is thoughtfully arranged into thematic clusters, offering a unique experience. The superior design also optimizes space utilization, featuring multiple functional rooms and advanced, super-connected technological equipment to facilitate simultaneous events.
The banquet hall, adorned with dazzling chandeliers and served by a professional staff, is ideal for hosting luxurious weddings and conferences, accommodating guests in a noble and elegant atmosphere.

The theater at Vinhomes Ocean Park 2 is a spectacle in itself, boasting a capacity of 10,000 seats. Equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, it meets the highest standards of artistic performance. With its international-level audience area, acoustics, decor, security, and backstage facilities, the theater is poised to become a prestigious destination for global stars bringing their concerts to Vietnam.
A wave of international concerts is set to hit eastern Hanoi.
The theater’s neoclassical architecture is a sight to behold, exuding a sense of grandeur and freedom with its perfectly proportioned Greek-inspired columns and distinctive Mansard roof, reminiscent of French palaces and classic European villas. The interior, with its carefully crafted furnishings and arrangements, is a work of art in itself.
Vinhomes Ocean Park 2’s appeal is further enhanced by the presence of Vincom Mega Mall, a “luxury brand heaven.” Spanning over 6.9 hectares, with three floors and 160 shops, it will host a diverse range of domestic and international brands offering cosmetics, accessories, consumer goods, furniture, culinary delights, fashion, and movie theaters, among other attractions. The combination of a shopping mall, convention and wedding center, and a grand theater in one destination creates a unique and compelling appeal for event organizers, artists, and tourists alike.
