The Hog Farming Stock: An In-House Securities Firm’s Unusual Binge Buy of Over VND 200 Billion on May 17.

The once-bullish proprietary securities firms have turned cautious, registering net selling of over VND 104 billion across all three exchanges.

The market witnessed a volatile session on the last trading day of the week, May 17, with the VN-Index swinging between gains and losses. However, it eventually ended in positive territory, led by a surge in livestock stocks such as HAG and DBC, which hit the daily limit-up. The market experienced mild volatility in the afternoon session but regained balance by the closing bell. The VN-Index closed at 1,273.11, up 4.33 points, or 0.34%.

Amid this backdrop, securities companies’ proprietary trading turned to net selling with a value of over VND104 billion on the three exchanges.

On the HoSE, securities companies’ proprietary trading sold a net VND61 billion, including VND25 billion on the matching order and VND36 billion on the negotiation.

Specifically, the strongest net selling was recorded in FUEVFVND with VND50 billion. FPT and VPB were also net sold with values of VND42 billion and VND38 billion, respectively. This was followed by HAH, which was net sold for about VND31 billion. Other stocks that were net sold in today’s session included STB, MBB, SSI, ACB, and others.

On the buying side, DBC witnessed a remarkable net buying value of VND232 billion. DPM and DXG were also net bought with values of VND15 billion and VND13 billion, respectively. VCB was net bought for VND13 billion. Additionally, stocks like HVN, CMG, DCM, and others were also net bought on May 17.

On the HNX, securities companies’ proprietary trading sold a net of nearly VND52 billion, including VND44 billion in INN and over VND7 billion in MBS.

On the UPCoM, securities companies’ proprietary trading bought a net of nearly VND9 billion, including VND10 billion in ABC and a net sell of over VND2 billion in VGT.
