Excessive Water Bill Due to Leaky Pipes and Illegal Water Connection

Mr. B.C.H from Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, was recently shocked to receive a water bill of over VND 27 million for May 2024.

Upon receiving this information, the Thu Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company conducted an inspection. It was found that Mr. H’s household had an illegal connection to the rural water supply system, which had been discontinued, and there was a leak in the pipes after the water meter.

“We request that Mr. H contact the Thu Duc Water Supply Company for assistance in reducing his water charges,” said a representative from the company.

To prevent similar incidents of high water bills due to pipe leaks or illegal connections, customers are advised to regularly inspect their pipes and water-using appliances, such as water tanks and toilets. It is also important not to connect the two water supply systems or install a pump directly after the water meter, as this can affect the operation of the meter.

In cases where the water meter is not in use but the dial is still moving, customers should temporarily shut off the valve after the meter and report it to the Thu Duc Water Supply Company for timely support and inspection.
