The Rail Revolution: Unveiling the Thriving Cat Linh – Ha Dong Railway’s Passenger Surge

The Cát Linh - Hà Đông elevated railway has become an attractive transportation option for passengers in the three years since its inauguration. Many commuters have made the switch from private vehicles to this public transport system, effectively contributing to reducing traffic congestion in the area.

According to Mr. Vu Hong Truong, General Director of Hanoi Metro, the Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban railway line currently transports over 35,000 passengers daily, with 47% being commuters, 45% students, and the remaining 8% traveling for other purposes. Notably, the line has seen a shift from passengers seeking novel experiences to regular monthly ticket holders, with over 85% of passengers during peak hours using monthly passes.

The operation of the Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban railway line has contributed to a positive change in commuting habits, encouraging a shift from private vehicles to public transport. It has also fostered a culture of civilized and polite behavior among commuters.
