Crowds Queue at Vietinbank and Vietcombank to Purchase Gold Bars
Although the banks only started selling gold bars at 2:30 pm, eager customers were already lining up outside since 2 pm. Our reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper witnessed the scene at Vietinbank’s gold-selling point on Hue Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi. A long queue of people waited to buy gold, but the bank did not issue any queue numbers, causing some frustration.
At exactly 2:30 pm, the bank opened its doors to customers, but only two people were allowed inside at a time. Our reporter observed that after more than 30 minutes, the first two customers were still completing their transactions, while those waiting outside grew impatient due to the hot weather.
A similar scene unfolded at Vietcombank’s transaction point on Cat Linh Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi, where people also gathered to wait for their turn to buy SJC gold bars. The transaction process took a considerable amount of time.
At noon on June 3rd, the State Bank of Vietnam announced the gold price for the day as VND 78.98 million per tael, which was approved by the Governor of the State Bank. Based on this price, the four banks in the Big 4 group and SJC will determine and announce the selling price of SJC gold bars on their websites and at their sales locations.
Below are some images of people queuing to buy SJC gold bars at the four state-owned commercial banks:
