In 2023, the world consumed an estimated 120 billion servings of instant noodles. The infographic below shows the top instant noodle-consuming countries based on 2023 estimates from the World Instant Noodles Association (WINA). A serving refers to the amount of food suitable for one person for one meal.
It’s no surprise that China, the world’s most populous country, tops the list. In 2023, mainland China and Hong Kong consumed a combined total of 42 billion servings of instant noodles. This equates to approximately 30 servings per person last year.
The remaining countries in the top 5 are all located in Asia: Indonesia (14.5 billion servings), India (8.7 billion servings), Vietnam (8.1 billion servings), and Japan (5.8 billion servings).
Only two countries outside of Asia made it into the top 10: the United States, with 5.1 billion servings consumed last year, and Nigeria, with 3 billion. Russia ranked 12th globally in instant noodle consumption, with 2.2 billion servings.
