Nothing is set to launch its first CMF-branded phone targeted at the affordable segment on July 8. Following its previous reveals, the company has now unveiled the unique customization possibilities of the CMF Phone 1, including a rotary dial attachment and an easily detachable back panel.

While the iconic glyph lights of the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 won’t be making an appearance on this model, a short video showcasing the back dial bears a striking resemblance to the aluminum alloy dial on the CMF Buds, which allows for the attachment of a strap to the charging case.

Recent leaks seem to confirm that the dial on the phone will function similarly to the one on the CMF Buds, serving as an attachment point for accessories and being detachable for replacement with other optional accessories, including a lanyard hook and a foldable kickstand.

But will this dial offer any additional functionality? Nothing’s reveals remain quite enigmatic, but the displayed dial is reminiscent of the smart control button on the CMF Neckband Pro headphones, used for volume control, music playback, and active noise cancellation.

Previously, Nothing’s account shared images of the device’s back panel, showcasing easily removable screws and a mini screwdriver with the brand’s signature style. These images strongly suggested that the device would feature an easily detachable back, which seems to be confirmed today with the post showing off the back panel in black, blue, light green, and orange colors.

It’s unclear if other companies will manufacture replacement back panels for the CMF Phone 1, but upon closer inspection, it appears that this back panel could accommodate additional accessories such as a large power bank or a wallet for credit and ID cards.

Nothing has also not disclosed whether removing the back panel will provide easy access to the internal components of the CMF Phone 1, including the battery. This feature might focus more on aesthetic and functional customization rather than improving repairability.

Alongside the launch of the CMF Phone 1 on July 8 at 5 AM ET, Nothing will also introduce the CMF Buds Pro 2 and the Watch Pro 2 at its “Community Update” event.
