A recent social media post in the OtoFun Nghe An group has caught the attention of many. In the post, the owner, Hoang Vinh, expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of his Mazda CX-5. He claimed that his car was “newly purchased” and “rarely used,” but he had already experienced issues with the automatic trunk.

According to the post, the photos were taken at a Mazda dealership and service center in Nghe An. The car owner claimed that the trunk would not close properly. When contacted, Mr. Hoang Vinh confirmed that he had taken the car to the Mazda Nghe An service center on the afternoon of July 3rd.

The provided documents showed that the car’s trunk could not be closed. The car was advised to replace two rear trunk support rods with a total cost of over 20 million VND, excluding VAT. However, Mr. Vinh disagreed with this solution and only removed the trunk support rods without replacing them.

In the comments, some people noticed that the Mazda CX-5 was not the newest model currently available in the market. Some even pointed out that the license plate number 37A-6xx.xx was registered in Nghe An province around the end of 2019 to the beginning of 2020.

Based on this information, some commenters discovered that the car had been purchased and used for over four years, contrary to the owner’s claim that it was newly bought. Additionally, the repair quote included a detail showing the car’s purchase date as December 27, 2019, which aligned with the observations of many social media users.

Many users disagreed with the car owner’s opinion.

Experts in the field acknowledged that it is normal for a four-year-old car to experience some issues. How the car was used and whether it was subjected to harsh conditions are unknown factors, making it challenging to conclude about the car’s quality at the present time.

“It’s common for electric trunks to malfunction after four or five years of use. They have a limited lifespan, just like shock absorbers and ball joints. Prolonged use will eventually lead to wear and tear. It’s similar to how a phone or computer may last for five to ten years without issues, while another may malfunction within a few months. It’s also a matter of luck with each product. I sympathize with your situation, but these things happen. After four or five years, it’s time to consider replacing certain parts, as all assets depreciate over time,” commented one user.

Additionally, it is important to note that the car has been in use for over four years, exceeding the standard three-year warranty offered by the manufacturer. Therefore, it is understandable that the owner would not be eligible for free replacement parts.

A veteran technician from a Japanese car brand stated that there are typically two reasons why an electric trunk may not close properly: a faulty electric control box or a broken trunk support rod. However, based on the quoted price, he believed that the Mazda CX-5 likely had a broken support rod, requiring the replacement of both sides.
