While Daimler used to be the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, the name “Daimler” is actually owned by Jaguar Land Rover. The predecessor company initially purchased the rights to the name back in 1895. Jaguar kindly allowed Daimler to use the name for their company, but they can reclaim it and sell vehicles under this brand at any time.
