The Talented Doctor: A Tribute to a Dedicated Female Physician

The Health Department would like to acknowledge and widely commend a heartwarming act by a team of medical professionals, led by Dr. Tran Thi Nhu Quynh and Nurse Nguyen Thi Ngan Chi, who, along with their staff at the FPT Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination Center, promptly responded to a medical emergency. Their quick actions and expertise saved the life of a woman suffering from anaphylactic shock.

At 11:40 am on July 4th, a woman who had come to purchase medicine at the FPT Long Chau pharmacy located at 203 3/2 Street, Ward 11, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, suddenly fainted while waiting for her prescription to be filled. The pharmacy’s staff immediately sprang into action, calling the emergency services and summoning Doctor Tran Thi Nhu Quynh, who was working at the adjacent vaccination center, for assistance.

Responding swiftly, Dr. Quynh arrived at the pharmacy and quickly assessed the patient’s condition. Recognizing the signs of shock (weak pulse, low blood pressure) and learning that the woman had recently undergone cosmetic surgery involving anesthetic and antibiotic injections, Dr. Quynh, along with Nurse Nguyen Thi Ngan Chi (who was working with Dr. Quynh), promptly took the patient to the vaccination center’s emergency room. There, they administered adrenaline and a saline solution, following the Ministry of Health’s protocol for anaphylactic shock, which both medical professionals had been trained in.

The patient’s vital signs soon stabilized, and she was then transported by the 115 Emergency Center to the Nhan Dan 115 Hospital for further treatment. As of now, the patient’s condition has improved, and the hospital’s diagnosis attributes the incident to anaphylaxis, likely triggered by the drugs lidocaine and cefotaxime, with a concern for anesthetic poisoning following the intimate cosmetic procedure.

Associate Professor Dr. Tang Chi Thuong presents flowers and congratulates the medical team of the Long Chau pharmacy and vaccination center at 203 3/2 Street, Ward 11, District 10, on their successful collaboration in treating the patient for anaphylactic shock (July 5, 2024)
