On July 12, the Nam Định Provincial Police’s Security Investigation Agency announced the prosecution and arrest of Hoàng Văn Quảng (born 1994, resident of Đông Triều ward, Đông Triều town, Quảng Ninh province) for counterfeiting, possessing, transporting, and circulating counterfeit money.

Prior to this, on June 30, Hoàng Văn Quảng was caught red-handed by the Nam Định police while transporting counterfeit money within Nam Định city. Upon inspection and an emergency search of his residence, the authorities discovered and confiscated 3,098 counterfeit 5,000 VND bills, 1,848 unfinished 5,000 VND bill templates, a laptop, a color photocopier, two paper cutters, and other tools used for counterfeiting.

During interrogation, Hoàng Văn Quảng confessed to his crimes. He admitted that, since early April 2024, he had purchased a laptop and a multi-function printer to produce and sell counterfeit 5,000 VND bills to customers in various provinces and cities. On June 30, while en route to deliver the counterfeit money to a client in Nam Định city, he was apprehended by the police.

The case is currently under further investigation by the Nam Định Provincial Police’s Security Investigation Agency.
