In July, the country had 14.7 thousand newly established enterprises with a registered capital of more than VND 110 trillion and a registered labor force of over 88.4 thousand laborers, down 6.3% in the number of enterprises, down 22.8% in registered capital, and up 3.3% in the labor force compared to June 2024. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 7.3% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 13% in registered capital, and an increase of 11.9% in the labor force. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in July reached VND 7.5 billion, down 17.6% from the previous month and 18.9% from the same period last year.
Additionally, more than 6.8 thousand businesses resumed operations, up 26.2% from the previous month and down 0.7% from July 2023.
In the first seven months of 2024, the country witnessed the establishment of over 95.2 thousand new enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 854.6 trillion and nearly 600.4 thousand registered laborers, representing increases of 6.3% in the number of enterprises, 2.4% in capital, and 2.0% in the labor force compared to the same period last year.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise during this period was VND 9.0 billion, a decrease of 3.6% from 2023. Taking into account the additional capital of VND 919.2 trillion registered by over 27.1 thousand enterprises increasing their capital, the total supplementary capital injected into the economy in the first seven months of 2024 amounted to VND 1,773.8 trillion, a decline of 9.1% year-on-year. Furthermore, nearly 44.3 thousand businesses resumed operations (up 4.7% year-on-year), bringing the total number of newly established and reactivated enterprises in the first seven months of 2024 to almost 139.5 thousand, an increase of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2023. On average, more than 19.9 thousand businesses were established or resumed operations each month.
In terms of economic sectors, from January to July 2024, there were 919 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, representing a decrease of 2.8% year-on-year; 22.4 thousand enterprises in the industry and construction sector, an increase of 4.8%; and 71.9 thousand enterprises in the service sector, a rise of 6.8%.
Also, in July, 6,837 enterprises registered for temporary suspension of operations with a definite duration, up 26.2% from the previous month and down 0.7% from July 2023; 7,035 enterprises ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, increases of 30.2% and 33.8%, respectively; and 1,730 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, decreases of 22.4% and an increase of 9.4%.
In the first seven months of 2024, over 78 thousand enterprises temporarily suspended their operations with a definite duration, up 16.7% year-on-year; more than 35.5 thousand enterprises ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, a decrease of 1.5%; and 11.9 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 14.5%. On average, more than 17.9 thousand businesses exited the market each month.
