The An Phu intersection, boasting a modern design that is one of the most advanced in Ho Chi Minh City, has received great attention and support from the local community. After more than 19 months of construction, several components of the project are now visible and close to completion.

The Mai Chi Tho – Dong Van Cong underpass has reached 70% completion, with several open tunnel sections already finished and the remaining ones under construction.

According to the current progress, the HC1-1 tunnel (on Mai Chi Tho Street near Dong Van Cong) is expected to be completed by December 2024, while the HC1-2 tunnel will be finished by July 2025 (connecting Mai Chi Tho Street to the expressway entrance road).

These days, construction at the An Phu intersection is bustling with activity as engineers, workers, and machinery work together to bring the project to life.

The investor is currently working on improving the Mai Chi Tho Street connection to D1 Road to facilitate traffic flow before starting the construction of the closed tunnel sections.

Once completed and operational, the An Phu intersection is expected to alleviate the chronic traffic congestion at this notorious bottleneck.

The N2 bridge’s piers (part of construction package 11), which began construction on January 16, have completed 6 bored piles and installed the piers. The project is expected to finish the bored piles, bridge abutments, load-bearing slabs, and superstructure by May 2025.

In addition to the construction of the bridge overpass, other packages are also being carried out simultaneously, with some awaiting land clearance.

The An Phu intersection is considered especially important as it is located at the eastern gateway to Ho Chi Minh City and serves as the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, connecting to major roads. As a result, it often experiences heavy traffic congestion during peak hours.

With its modern design as a three-level intersection, the project is expected to resolve the long-standing traffic congestion issues once it is completed.
