In an interview with Tien Phong Newspaper, Mr. Ngo Quang Tuan, Chairman of the Labor Federation of Hiep Hoa District, Bac Giang Province, shared that on the morning of August 1st, approximately 1,600 workers of KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. went on a work stoppage, demanding a wage increase and some other requests.
The workers requested a basic wage increase of VND 260,000 per month, along with an increase in transportation and attendance allowances from VND 600,000 to VND 700,000 per month. Additionally, they asked the company not to increase the production quota.
Immediately following this, the Bac Giang Provincial Labor Federation, the Hiep Hoa District Labor Federation, and relevant authorities intervened and worked with KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the workers to resolve the issue.
By August 3rd, KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. agreed to increase the basic wage by VND 250,000 per month, maintain the transportation and attendance allowances, and not increase the production quota.
“The majority of workers at KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. agree with the company’s resolution. Only a small number of workers are still dissatisfied. The company’s salary scheme ensures compliance with regulations,” said Mr. Tuan, adding that the Hiep Hoa District Labor Federation is continuing to communicate and encourage workers to return to work.
According to the reporter’s investigation, KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. is a Korean-invested industrial garment company with a total workforce of approximately 1,600 workers.
