The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has recently reported to the Ministry of Construction on the progress of resolving legal issues related to 64 real estate projects in the city.
Specifically, since the end of 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City government has held several meetings with the Prime Minister’s task force to review and provide guidance on resolving legal difficulties faced by 64 real estate projects referred by the aforementioned task force.
According to the operating regulations, the Ho Chi Minh City task force on resolving difficulties for investment projects in the city (HCMC Task Force) assigns the Department of Planning and Investment (KH-DT) to periodically synthesize and propose handling directions for issues within the competence of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
In addition to its primary task, the HCMC People’s Committee agrees to continue assigning the Department of Planning and Investment to synthesize and propose solutions for the 64 real estate projects referred by the Prime Minister’s task force.

According to Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the HCMC Task Force has been reviewing investment projects that are slow to implement due to legal complications, aiming to provide solutions and prevent land resource wastage.
Additionally, the task force regularly identifies inconsistencies, overlaps, and contradictions in legal provisions to facilitate a comprehensive resolution for the projects.
Since its establishment in May 2023, the HCMC Task Force has held nine meetings and issued 15 notices of conclusion, addressing 30 real estate projects. Specifically, in the second quarter of 2024, the task force convened one meeting.
Of the 30 real estate projects, five have been completely resolved, and 25 are undergoing processing by the departments and branches within their competence.
The five unblocked projects include: The Metropole Thu Thiem by Quoc Loc Phat Joint Stock Company; social housing project by VTHouse Joint Stock Company and Tam Giao Joint Stock Company; project by Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage Company Limited; Metro Star commercial and residential area in Thu Duc City by Metro Star Investment Joint Stock Company; and Celadon City by Gamuda Land Joint Stock Company.
