Representatives from the Dong Nai Province’s Department of Transportation have shared that they are seeking approval from the Ministry of Transportation for their plans to invest in the construction of two key intersections: Vung Tau Intersection and Gate 11 Intersection. These projects aim to eliminate traffic congestion and create smoother transportation flow in these areas.
Both intersections are strategically located on National Highway 51 in Bien Hoa City, serving as gateways to Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province. To minimize land clearance, the proposed design for the Vung Tau Intersection includes a multi-level interchange. This design involves transforming the existing left-turn tunnel from National Highway 51 to a straight tunnel leading to An Hao Bridge and constructing an additional four-lane tunnel for bidirectional traffic.
Additionally, a bridge will be constructed on National Highway 1 to match the road cross-sections in the area, and four direct left-turn lanes will be added using branch bridges. A steel bridge will also be built for motorbikes traveling straight on National Highway 1 from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai Province. The estimated total investment for the Vung Tau Intersection project is over VND 4,700 billion.
As for the Gate 11 Intersection, the proposed plan includes the construction of overpasses and cloverleaf loops to ensure seamless traffic flow. In the first phase, a two-way overpass will be built along Vo Nguyen Giap Street, crossing the intersection of Bui Van Hoa Street and Vo Nguyen Giap Street, as well as the junction of Vo Nguyen Giap Street and National Highway 51.
Furthermore, a roundabout will be constructed under the overpass, along with a one-way overpass for traffic traveling from Bui Van Hoa Street towards Vung Tau City. In the subsequent investment phase, the overpass and cloverleaf loops will be completed to facilitate smooth traffic movement. The estimated total investment for the Gate 11 Intersection project is over VND 8,400 billion.
According to the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province, these intersections serve not only as transportation hubs but also as landmarks that enhance the architectural landscape of Bien Hoa City. Previously, the Provincial People’s Committee had proposed the construction of a 6-kilometer-long viaduct connecting the Vung Tau and Gate 11 Intersections, with an estimated cost of VND 5,700 billion.
