“Apple’s Late Entry into the Foldable Arena: Unveiling Two Devices in 2026”

Apple seems to be playing catch-up with Samsung when it comes to foldable smartphones. Back in 2019, Samsung unveiled its first foldable device, taking the world by storm. Now, Apple is stepping into the ring, potentially offering a unique take on this innovative technology.

According to the latest report from analyst Jeff Pu, Apple is expected to introduce two foldable devices in 2026: an iPhone with a foldable design and a hybrid iPad-MacBook device with an 18.8-inch display when unfolded.

The report also suggests that the iPad/MacBook hybrid will be released first, likely in the second quarter of 2026, while the foldable iPhone will be announced later in the year. It’s possible that the iPhone could be unveiled alongside the iPhone 17 around September, but the commercial availability of the foldable iPhone may not happen until later in the year.

Analyst Jeff Pu expresses optimism about Apple’s current plans, especially after the company reportedly signed a deal with a supplier for foldable iPhone screens. Of course, these details are still rumors, and it will be a while before we see Apple’s actual execution of these plans.

Currently, most Android manufacturers have already released their foldable smartphones. Samsung, for instance, is the clear leader in the foldable phone segment with its Galaxy Z lineup, which debuted in 2019. Meanwhile, brands like OPPO, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Honor have also successfully entered the foldable market. Apple’s late entry into this market could be due to various reasons.
