In the early days of August, along the 500kV power line, Route 3, in Ha Tinh province, groups of workers are busy finalizing tasks such as wire pulling and reinforcing installation points for phase positioning.

At a height of 50-80 meters, these workers have to climb and swing like “spiderman,” spending hours hanging from the wires. They are equipped with safety belts and ropes.

At poles 166-168, in Cam My commune, Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh province), three workers are seen swaying on the wires to install phase positioning equipment.

Below, colleagues supply phase positioning equipment and use a hoist to lift tools for the workers.

According to the workers, they often have to work outdoors under the scorching sun. The wind causes the wires to sway, so those performing these tasks must be in good health, not afraid of heights, and experienced in quick, precise installations.

“We have to start work early these days because the noon sun is too strong, and it’s easy to get tired, and the cables get hotter,” shared one of the workers.

Every 20-25 meters, the workers install one phase positioning device for the four cables.

After completing each installation, the workers embrace the wires and swing like trapeze artists to reach the next installation point.

“It’s hard to describe the hardship and danger faced by these electrical workers as they climb and swing on the wires,” shared Ms. Bui Thi Hong (66 years old, living in Cam My commune).

The hot weather takes a toll on the workers’ energy levels. They have to continuously hydrate while working on the power lines.

Along with the 500kV power lines, Route 1 and 2, the completion of Route 3 will play a crucial role in providing and supplementing electricity to the Northern region.

According to the Management Board of Central Power Projects (the project investor), the 500kV power line, Route 3, in Ha Tinh province, is over 141km long and has 285 pole foundations passing through nine districts and towns. To date, 285 foundation locations have been completed, 249 poles have been erected, and 36 poles are in the process of being erected.

“The construction faces many challenges, especially in Ky Anh town, where the power line passes through the Hoanh Son mountain range, with its difficult terrain, strong winds, and frequent rains, making the construction of poles and wire pulling complex. Even transporting materials to the construction site is difficult,” shared a representative of the Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade.

The 500kV power line, Route 3, passes through many challenging locations, including canals, lakes, and hilly terrain, but it is gradually nearing completion.
