On August 9, representatives of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province announced that they had issued a decision approving the adjustment of the construction planning task for Bau Bang district up to 2040. This new decision supersedes the previous decisions made by the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province in 2019 and 2021.
The direct scope of the study includes the entire administrative boundary of Bau Bang district, covering an area of 34,002.11 hectares. The district comprises seven administrative units: six communes (Xa Cay Truong II, Hung Hoa, Lai Hung, Long Nguyen, Tan Hung, and Tru Van Tho) and the town of Lai Uyen. Bau Bang district is bordered by Chon Thanh town (Binh Phuoc province) to the north, Ben Cat city to the south, Phu Giao district to the east, and Dau Tieng district to the west.
As per the decision, the planning ratio is 1/25,000. The planning timeline includes a short-term phase up to 2030 and a long-term phase up to 2040.
The decision, signed by Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, states that the goal of approving the adjusted planning task is to concretize the province’s planning for the period of 2021–2030, with a vision towards 2050; to specify the socio-economic development orientations of Bau Bang district; and to materialize the objective of building new-style rural districts in the province.
One of the orientations is for Bau Bang district to fulfill the criteria for a new-style rural district, paving the way for subsequent phases to achieve the targets for a type-III city and become a provincial town.
Binh Duong province envisions Bau Bang district as an industrial-service-agriculture-oriented area, prioritizing the development of industrial services, with the potential to become a “Center for Innovation and Industry” in the northern part of Binh Duong province. It serves as a gateway to Binh Phuoc province and the Central Highlands region through National Highway 13.
Bau Bang district plays a crucial role as the northern economic hub of Binh Duong province, interacting and integrating with the economic space of Dau Tieng and Phu Giao districts, as well as Ben Cat city. The area is designated for industrial development (multi-sector and agro-forestry processing), a complex of cultural and sports facilities, healthcare, regional-level education and training, regional commercial and trading services, ecological tourism, and cultural-historical tourism.
The district of Bau Bang is striving to meet the criteria for a type-III city and become a provincial town. The projected population for 2030 is approximately 320,000 to 350,000 people, increasing to around 480,000 to 500,000 people by 2040.
The People’s Committee of Binh Duong province has entrusted the People’s Committee of Bau Bang district with the responsibility of organizing and implementing the planning scheme in accordance with the approved adjusted task, ensuring compliance with current standards and norms.
