On August 13, the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone hosted a meeting with a delegation of Chinese businesses, led by Mr. Si Zhong Wu, Director of Goldwind International Southeast Asia. The delegation comprised enterprises involved in the supply chain of manufacturing components for wind turbines.

The purpose of this visit and working session was for the delegation to survey and select a site for constructing a high-tech factory that will specialize in manufacturing components for wind turbines and assembling them within the tax-free zone, logistics, and Lach Huyen industrial park in Hai Phong.

Mr. Si Zhong Wu, Director of Goldwind International Southeast Asia, shared that Goldwind investor is among the top 3 largest wind turbine manufacturers globally (as of 2023). In Vietnam, Goldwind has provided wind turbines to 6 provinces and cities.

To date, Goldwind has supplied over 47,000 wind turbines worldwide, with a global installed capacity exceeding 97GW. Their operational and maintenance (O&M) services surpass a capacity of 56GW.

Mr. Si Zhong Wu also stated that the enterprises recognize the advantages, potential, and development opportunities presented by Hai Phong city. Hence, through this working session and practical survey, they aim to explore potential collaboration and investment opportunities.

The businesses expressed interest in learning about the supportive policies offered by Hai Phong for investors, the timeline for investment procedures, preferential policies for constructing housing for workers, and the current average salary for laborers in the city.

During the working session, the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone expressed their desire to attract investment from Chinese investors, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, industry, seaports, logistics, electronics, and high technology.

Up to now, Hai Phong city has 405 investment projects from China, with a total capital of 6.14 billion USD. This includes investments from mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Currently, Hai Phong is home to 2 industrial parks invested by Chinese enterprises: An Duong Industrial Park, invested by Shenzhen Holdings Group, and Do Son Industrial Park. Chinese enterprises in Hai Phong export 5.34 billion USD worth of goods annually and employ 58,000 laborers.

Prior to this, on August 7, at the Hai Phong City Investment Promotion Conference in China in 2024, a ceremony was held to grant investment registration certificates to 7 enterprises with a total investment of nearly 200 million USD. These enterprises include Flat Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Ways Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd.; CFL Holdings Limited; Yuekai Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; HMT Hai Phong New Material Technology Co., Ltd.; Finework International; and Autel Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Additionally, memorandums of understanding were signed between Chinese enterprises and the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone, as well as infrastructure businesses in industrial parks in Hai Phong. The establishment of the Industrial Real Estate Consulting Center of Thâm Việt Investment Co., Ltd. in Hai Phong was also announced.
