As part of Masan Consumer’s strategy for sustainable development and enhancing the value of Vietnamese specialties, the event aimed to popularize and promote Ly Son garlic, sustain and create development opportunities for the long-standing garlic farming industry on Ly Son Island, and boost the local economy.

Exactly one year since Nam Ngu brand signed a long-term supply agreement with the People’s Committee and farmers of the island for Ly Son garlic (01/07/2023) to produce Nam Ngu Chili Ly Son Garlic, over 5 million bottles of the product have been consumed. This figure not only demonstrates the trust of consumers but also affirms the superior quality of a product associated with the specialty of Ly Son garlic.

In terms of socio-economics, the collaboration with Masan Consumer has helped stabilize the price of Ly Son garlic, and the reputation of this “white gold” has resonated in both the domestic and international markets. The enhanced value of this precious bulb, along with the brand value, not only brings peace of mind but also increases the income of farmers, enabling them to focus on improving the yield and quality of their agricultural produce.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Plant Protection Department, gave a speech at the event.

Attending the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Plant Protection Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, highly appreciated the efforts of Masan Consumer in introducing Ly Son garlic specialty to a wide range of consumers. The leader of the Plant Protection Department also expressed his desire for Masan Consumer, in particular, and other enterprises, in general, to always accompany farmers across the country, adding value to many Vietnamese agricultural products and supporting local economic development, thereby improving the lives of farmers.

In response to Mr. Cuong’s sharing, Ms. Le Thi Nga, Deputy General Director of Research and Product Development of Masan Consumer, affirmed the company’s mission to accompany farmers in developing the local economy and enhancing the value of Vietnamese specialties. Integrating Vietnamese agricultural products into daily consumables is the driving force for the Masan team to continuously explore, research, and create innovative, high-quality products to serve consumers.

Masan Consumer also committed to cooperating with farmers, the People’s Committee of Ly Son Island District, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to strongly promote Ly Son garlic specialty, not only in the domestic market but also abroad. This practical strategy brings Nam Ngu Chili Ly Son Garlic – made with 100% garlic from Ly Son Island – to consumers through supermarket chains, stores, and retail outlets nationwide.

At the event, Masan Consumer also donated VND 1 billion to support the sustainable development program of Ly Son Island District in the project to expand the irrigation system for agriculture from the Thoi Loi water reservoir, bringing water to garlic fields to ensure water supply for irrigation.

Representatives of the People’s Committee of Ly Son Island District and the Ly Son Garlic Farmers Association received VND 1 billion in support from Masan Consumer.

With many support activities, Masan Consumer continues its journey of accompanying farmers in various regions of the country to enhance local specialties. Not only garlic but other agricultural products such as ginger, chili, pepper, onion, and turmeric are also being promoted by Masan in the domestic and international markets through the strategy of “Go global – Make Vietnamese Foods – Global Foods”, increasing the economic value of Vietnamese specialties, spreading the essence of Vietnamese cuisine, and especially improving the economic well-being of Vietnamese farmers.

Guest performer, singer My Tam, enthralled the audience with familiar songs.

In addition to the cooperation ceremony, the program also included cultural and artistic activities that attracted the attention of consumers, such as a 15-meter-long “giant scroll” performance, the “hunt for the golden garlic bulb” challenge, and check-ins with a unique Ly Son garlic model. The event will last until August 18 at Aeon Mall Tan Phu, Ho Chi Minh City.
