BIDV, or the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, introduces Apple Pay – a secure, private, and convenient way to pay for its Visa cardholders. With Apple Pay, customers can make transactions without handing over their physical card or exchanging cash, utilizing the built-in security and privacy features of their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
To make a payment, users simply double-click the side button and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the payment terminal. Each Apple Pay transaction is secure and authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device’s passcode, along with a dynamic security code for each purchase.
Apple Pay is widely accepted at retail stores, pharmacies, taxi services, restaurants, cafes, and many other locations. It can also be used for faster and more convenient online shopping within apps or on websites using Safari, without the need to create an account or repeatedly enter shipping and payment information.
At its core, Apple Pay prioritizes security and privacy. Actual credit card numbers are not stored on the device or Apple’s servers when using Apple Pay. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a standard chip designed for safe payment information storage on electronic devices.
Setting up Apple Pay is simple and convenient. Users can open the Wallet app on their iPhone, tap the plus sign (+), and follow the instructions to add their BIDV Visa credit card. Alternatively, customers can link their Visa credit card from the BIDV SmartBanking app.
Once the card is added to the device, customers can immediately start using Apple Pay on that device. They will continue to enjoy all the benefits and promotions offered by BIDV, such as reward points on transactions, interest-free spending for up to 45 days, 0% installment plans, and discounts at thousands of BIDV partner locations.
Apple Pay is available on iPhone 6 and later models running iOS 12.5.2 and above. The service also supports Apple Watch Series 4 and newer versions with watchOS 9 and later, paired with iPhone 8 or later. For more details, please click here.
