A fire broke out at 11:45 pm on August 30 at the CT5A apartment building in Tan Trieu, Thanh Tri, Hanoi. When the fire started, residents noticed thick black smoke billowing from apartment 206 on the second floor of the building.
The onsite fire crew swiftly sprang into action, extinguishing the blaze and alerting all residents to evacuate to the first floor while clearing obstructing vehicles for unimpeded firefighting access.
The Hanoi Police Command’s Information and Command Center dispatched six fire trucks and dozens of officers from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police teams of both Thanh Tri district and Ha Dong district to the scene.
The Fire Fighting and Rescue Police officers approached the fire from multiple directions while simultaneously initiating search and rescue operations to guide trapped residents to safety.
A resident living on the second floor recounted her panic upon seeing black smoke infiltrating her home, prompting her to shout for her family to escape through the window to descend to the ground below.
“I grabbed some towels and blankets and was preparing to climb down to the first floor when the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police officers arrived just in time to safely bring down all four of us,”
the woman recalled.
By 12:10 am on August 31, the fire was completely extinguished, with no spread to other areas. The Fire Fighting and Rescue Police successfully rescued four trapped residents from the second floor, bringing them down to the first floor unharmed.
Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the property damage is currently being assessed by authorities. The owner of apartment 206 was also not present at the time of the fire.
The Thanh Tri district police are investigating the cause of the fire.
