This island is Mount Cuống in Quang Ninh province.
Recently, the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province approved the construction master plan at a ratio of 1/10,000 for Nui Cuong Island Tourist Area in Dai Binh commune, Dam Ha district. Specifically, the scope of the project’s planning study includes the entire area of Nui Cuong island, with one side adjacent to Bai Tu Long bay and two sides adjacent to the northern sea of Cai Bau island (in Van Don district).
The Nui Cuong Island Tourist Area project has a scale of nearly 1,080 hectares. Of which, the planning area is over 670 hectares, and the rest is for studying and promoting the value of forests and seas. The project aims to form a tourist, golf, and eco-resort area, combining seafood farming around the island to create a diverse range of tourism products. In addition, the project also aims to strictly protect the existing forest and marine environment. The planned population on the island is expected to be about 7,800 people by 2030 and reach 20,000 people by 2045, mainly from labor and tourists.
The project will be planned into four sub-areas. Of these, Sub-area 1 (over 190 hectares) is located at the northern gateway to the east of Nui Cuong Island, connecting Dam Ha district center, Van Don – Mong Cai highway, and Van Don Economic Zone.Â
The main center of this sub-area will be arranged with resorts, entertainment, seaplanes, marinas, cultural centers, exhibitions, squares, central parks, etc., forming a festival street following the landscape axis from the northern gateway to the southern yacht.
Meanwhile, the production forest land in the north of the sub-area is reserved for service-tourism activities in the following phases of the project.
Sub-area 2 (located in the western part of the island) has an area of over 120 hectares. This sub-area takes advantage of the natural terrain to arrange high-end and isolated resorts, blending them with the natural landscape. These items are required to minimize land clearing to preserve the mangrove ecological area.
Especially, Sub-area 3 is a Dam Ha tourism and resort area with a golf course, with an area of nearly 167 hectares, and is expected to build a 27-hole golf course, utility services for tourists with harmonious green architecture.
In addition, Sub-area 4 (located in the southern part of the island) is a tourist resort area of over 190 hectares, with a commercial service center. The surrounding separate islands will build resorts with diverse experience types, combining the conservation of the mangrove ecological area.
The Quang Ninh People’s Committee assigned the Department of Construction, the departments, branches, and related agencies to base their functions and tasks to monitor and manage the specialized management according to the approved planning and coordinate with the People’s Committee of Dam Ha district to organize management and implement the planning contents according to regulations.
The People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province assigned the People’s Committee of Da Ha to complete the project dossier, including explanations, drawings, and management regulations according to the approved plan. Accordingly, the project’s planning period is up to 2030 and long-term to 2045.
Quang Ninh has many advantages in developing golf tourism
Quang Ninh is a coastal province in the Northeast of Vietnam. It is where the sea, islands, plains, hills, mountains, and borders meet, so it is quite advantageous for development in all aspects. Currently, the province has become one of the key economic regions of the North. Quang Ninh is now the country’s key coal mining area.
Thanks to its terrain characteristics, with over 80% of its area being hills and mountains, along with over 6,000 km of sea surface and beautiful natural landscapes, Quang Ninh has many advantages in developing golf tourism. In addition, according to the provincial planning for the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050, which has been approved by the Prime Minister, Quang Ninh is planned to have 22 golf courses.
It is expected that Quang Ninh province will start constructing five golf courses by 2025, aiming to become a golf tourism center of the North.
