Chinese automotive brands have made significant strides in design, quality, and technology over the past half-decade. However, this progress is mostly limited to the leading brands. Smaller automakers in the country still rely on a formula of affordability and… well, imitation, to attract customers.

In the latter part of 2024, images of a rather interesting duo of vehicles surfaced on China’s Weibo platform. The pair, seemingly displayed at a small auto event in the country, consisted of miniature interpretations of the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. All the vehicles at this event were of a diminutive stature, not dissimilar to Japan’s kei car category.

The designs of these duo are strikingly faithful to the original Rolls-Royce Phantom and Mercedes-Maybach GLS. The miniature Rolls-Royce replica features a large grille, chrome accents, and even the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. The headlight design is on point, although the colored interior lights might be a bit much. At least they’re accompanied by LED daytime running lights.

The profile of the Rolls-Royce replica is very Phantom-like, especially with the continuous door handle design. And yes, the rear doors are coach doors, just like on the real deal.

As for the Maybach GLS replica, it appears to utilize the body of a regular Maybach but with a front-end redesign to resemble its German counterpart. The grille, headlights, air intakes, and chrome trim on the front bumper have all been tweaked to match the Maybach aesthetic.

The interiors of these replicas are still a far cry from the real deal, but they’re not completely sparse. The dashboard features a large integrated screen that serves as both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment display. The ambient lighting and circular air vents are reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz models.

For a rumored price of just 50 million VND, the interiors of these replicas are actually not too shabby. Image: Carscoops

It’s unclear which manufacturer produced these vehicles or what type of powertrain they use. However, they are reportedly priced at just 14,000 CNY (approximately 49.1 million VND) according to rumors on Weibo. Many netizens are curious about the origins and specifications of these vehicles and are even considering purchasing them.
