Getfit, a well-known fitness chain in Ho Chi Minh City, has recently announced that it will be temporarily suspending operations across all its branches until further notice, effective September 4th. This decision comes as a result of “unforeseeable circumstances beyond Getfit’s control.”

“Getfit is facing immense challenges that make it impossible to reopen in the short term. We understand that this causes disappointment and affects our members’ workout plans and benefits,” the company stated in its announcement.

While Getfit has not yet provided immediate solutions to address the concerns of its affected customers, it has assured that it will “find the best resolution and protect the benefits of its members.”

Prior to this sudden closure, Getfit had announced a system upgrade and holiday closure from August 27th to September 3rd. However, on September 3rd, the company notified its members of an indefinite suspension of operations.

Getfit has been operating for 14 years in Ho Chi Minh City and boasts three locations in Districts 4, Binh Chanh, and Tan Phu. The chain was one of the early investors in developing premium fitness centers in Vietnam, following California Fitness & Yoga’s first opening in the country in 2007. In 2020, Getfit expanded by opening a new location in Ho Chi Minh City, coinciding with the launch of the Elite chain in Hanoi.

According to Vietdata, the chain recorded a revenue of almost VND 2 billion in 2021, which surged to VND 35 billion in 2022 as people returned to their fitness routines post-pandemic.

In an interview with Forbes Vietnam, Trinh Thi Thuong, CEO of Getfit Gym & Yoga, proudly asserted that Getfit meets the standards of a 5-star fitness center. She revealed that each Getfit location involves an investment of VND 18-25 billion, a minimum area of 1,300 square meters, standardized processes, and well-trained staff.

Beyond its fitness centers, Getfit’s ecosystem includes a spa, trainer academy, athletic wear, and supplement sales.

The man behind the chain is Nguyen Huu Phuc, Chairman of Getfit Holdings. He previously shared his ambition to IPO in 2026, by which time Getfit planned to operate 128 centers.
