On September 9, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision (Ministry of Finance) sent a report to the Vietnam Insurance Association and insurance companies about the damage and insurance compensation caused by Typhoon Yagi (Storm No. 3).
According to the agency, the storm has caused damage to people and property in many provinces and cities.
To promptly support organizations and individuals in overcoming the damage caused by Storm No. 3, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision requested insurance companies to actively coordinate with agencies, organizations, and individuals to identify damage to the lives and property of insured organizations and individuals.

Insurance companies are receiving compensation requests from customers affected by Typhoon Yagi.
In particular, insurance companies need to advance, compensate, and promptly, fully, and adequately pay insurance money to the insured and beneficiaries as agreed in the contract and legal regulations.
At the same time, the Vietnam Insurance Association and insurance companies provide humanitarian support to the victims affected by the storm.
As of the morning of September 9, Bảo hiểm PVI recorded 210 property damage cases, with an estimated compensation of 320 billion VND, excluding motor vehicle and human losses.
“We are actively coordinating with related parties to handle losses in the fastest time, minimizing procedures, and ensuring the best interests of customers,” the company said.

According to preliminary information from BSH as of the early afternoon of September 9, this company recorded nearly 100 cases of property damage – technical – maritime; 250 cases of motor vehicle damage; the human insurance business recorded 6 missing cases and 1 death.
As of 13:30 on September 9, through the head of business representatives and business offices in the affected areas, AIA Vietnam recorded 5 deceased customers, including 4 in Hai Duong and 1 in Quang Ninh.
The total insurance benefit of these 5 customers at AIA Vietnam is about 6.5 billion VND. After initial confirmation, the company approved the payment to all these customers.
Insured Customers Should Take the Initiative to Report Losses
Bao Viet Insurance said that it also “urgently deploys activities to support affected customers, including advance compensation.”
Bao Viet Insurance mobilizes a team of on-site assessors, loss assessors to speed up the progress of handling compensation dossiers in the provinces/cities affected by the storm.
At the same time, Bao Viet Insurance also actively coordinates with local authorities and works directly with customers to record and determine the extent of the damage.

Bao Viet Insurance recommends that customers take three basic steps to ensure that their insurance benefits are maximized.
First , report the loss: Quickly contact the hotline of the insurance corporation or its member companies, agents, and brokers nationwide to report the damage.
Second , prepare related documents: Customers provide full necessary documents such as site photos, loss photos, damage assessment minutes, and other papers to support the loss verification process.
Third , coordinate with the loss assessor: The team of professional assessors of the insurance company will come to the site, conduct inspections, and assess the damage quickly and transparently.
For an efficient compensation process, the company encourages customers to take the initiative in reporting damage and coordinating closely.
The goal is to help customers stabilize their lives and production and business activities and complete the compensation procedures in the shortest time.
Talking to the reporter of VietNamNet , Mr. Ngo Viet Trung, Director of the Insurance Management and Supervision Department, Ministry of Finance, said that by September 12 at the latest, insurance companies and the Insurance Association must report to the Insurance Management and Supervision Department about the situation of handling insurance benefits for organizations and individuals damaged by Typhoon Yagi. Specific operations will be further implemented after that.
