Thac Ba Hydropower Plant Remains Safe
In an interview with the Government Portal during the inspection, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of MARD, said that as of that time, Thac Ba Hydropower Plant was safe. “However, there is still a lot to be done. Given the inflow and outflow, we can affirm that Thac Ba Hydropower Plant is safe,” said Mr. Hiep. It will take about 1-2 days for the lake to return to the permitted water level, and people in the area will need to remain in temporary shelters to prepare for any possible incidents.
According to Mr. Hiep, with the weather forecast, the situation at Thac Ba Hydropower Plant will be resolved well, and the water level will drop below the permitted threshold. The rainfall forecast for this area in the next 48 hours is about 40-50 mm, and in the next 24 hours, it is expected to be around 15-20 mm. Currently, the functional forces have calculated all plans and proactively prepared forces to respond with the spirit of minimizing damage, with the top priority being the lives of the people.
