Some opinions used to hold that when receiving registration fee incentives from the government, many domestically assembled cars would not receive large promotions as before. There was even a risk of price increases.
However, in reality, many domestically assembled models continue to receive favorable treatment from manufacturers and dealers.
Honda
From September 1st, the suggested retail price of the Honda City is only 499-569 million VND, a reduction of 40-60 million VND. The Honda CR-V has a new suggested price of 1,029-1,250 billion VND (excluding the e:HEV RS version), a reduction of 60-80 million VND.
This move has attracted attention because both models are domestically assembled. Therefore, customers buying City and CR-V (excluding the hybrid version) will also get a 50% reduction in registration fees when completing the procedures according to the new government regulations. Moreover, the base price for calculating the registration fee will be updated according to the new price, making the cost of these Honda models even more appealing to customers compared to their competitors in the same segment.
Ford
Meanwhile, Ford has decided to offer additional incentives for its domestically assembled models. Thanks to this, these models benefit from a total incentive of up to 100% of the registration fee, of which 50% is according to the government’s policy.
Specifically, the Ford Ranger’s XLS, Sport, and Wildtrak versions have just benefited from a 50% registration fee incentive from the government and a 50% registration fee support from the company, equivalent to 21.21-29 million VND.
A similar case applies to the Ford Territory, which receives both incentives. Only the newly launched Sport version is eligible for the government’s incentive for registration fee payment when completing the procedures.
Toyota
Even though the domestically assembled models have already received registration fee incentives from the government, Toyota has decided to offer additional promotions to bring the benefit to customers up to 100% of the registration fee.
Accordingly, customers who buy the Toyota Vios, Veloz Cross, and Avanza Premio will receive an additional 50% registration fee support from the company, along with preferential interest rates. This support will be a maximum of 23-27 million VND for the Vios, 32-33 million VND for the Veloz Cross, and 28-30 million VND for the Avanza Premio, depending on the version of each model.
Peugeot
The distinctly European-style models are now more accessible in terms of pricing. This is because Peugeot models are not only receiving incentives from the government for domestic assembly but also additional support from the company, resulting in a purchase price reduction equivalent to 100% of the registration fee.
Initially priced higher than many competitors, Peugeot vehicles are now more competitive. Specifically, after applying the incentives, the Peugeot 2008 is priced from only 689 million VND, equivalent to the mid-range version of the Kia Seltos 1.5L Luxury (699 million VND). Similarly, the Peugeot 3008 is now only 899 million VND, the Peugeot 5008 is 999 million VND, and the Peugeot 408 is priced from 1.019 billion VND.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The luxury car brand is also joining the “double incentive” game. This September, buyers of the E 180, E 200 Exclusive, and E 300 AMG versions will receive significant price reductions of 130 million VND, 160 million VND, and 250 million VND, respectively. After applying the incentives, the three versions of the E-Class are priced at 1.759 billion VND, 2.063 billion VND, and 2.639 billion VND, respectively.
At the same time, being domestically assembled, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class will also receive a 50% reduction in registration fees. Thus, customers will save an amount ranging from 94 to 173 million VND, depending on the version and region.
After applying the incentives, the price of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is much more attractive compared to its competitors, the BMW 5-Series (1.829 – 2.889 billion VND) and the Lexus ES (2.620 – 3.140 billion VND).
