Recently, social media has been abuzz with information about a manager at a Korean fried chicken restaurant forcing employees to set aside leftover food for future customers.

Screenshots of conversations between an employee and a manager of a Papas’ Chicken branch show the manager instructing employees to “reuse” pickled radish that previous customers had eaten, for the next batch of customers.

In the revealed messages, an employee suggested that they keep the uneaten radish by previous customers and discard the ones that had been consumed. However, the manager overruled this suggestion, insisting on “KEEPING THEM ALL FOR LATER USE.”

According to the manager, a bag of radish costs 200,000 VND, and if they go through too many bags, costs will increase. The post about this incident was later removed.

In response to this issue, Papas’ Chicken stated that they are acknowledging the feedback from customers regarding the quality of products and services at the Papas’ Chicken branch at 431A Hoang Van Thu, Ward 4, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

“At the moment, we are verifying the information with the relevant personnel. Before providing an accurate response to our customers, the Board of Directors has decided to TEMPORARILY SUSPEND the involved personnel at the Hoang Van Thu branch. TEMPORARILY CEASE OPERATIONS at the Hoang Van Thu branch until the information is verified,” the announcement stated.

The Papas’ Chicken Hoang Van Thu branch recently opened on September 1, 2024, and is located at Co.op Mart.

Papas’ Chicken officially entered Vietnam in 2006 as a Korean restaurant chain under Topfood Vietnam Co., Ltd., specializing in traditional Korean cuisine. Their signature dish is Korean-style fried chicken, which is made with spices directly imported from Korea, according to their website.

As per the website, Papas’ Chicken sources fresh chicken daily, cleans and salts it, and stores it in a central cold storage for over 24 hours. The chicken is then transported in refrigerated trucks to the branches for cooking.

The dishes at Papas’ Chicken are made-to-order, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety for their customers.
