According to a post by analyst Ming-chi Kuo on Medium, Apple is expected to produce around 88-89 million iPhone 16 units this year. This is a significant decrease from the 91 million iPhone 15 orders placed during the same period last year. However, compared to the previous estimate of 87-88 million iPhone 16 units, this number seems reasonable.
Apple’s decision to reduce the number of iPhone 16 units produced, coupled with higher demand for the iPhone 16, is leading to these new iPhone models selling out quickly. If Ming-chi Kuo’s data is accurate, the order split for this product line will be 26%, 6%, 30%, and 38% for the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, respectively.
According to Kuo, 9 million iPhone 16 units will be produced in August, and 16 million in September. Of these, 15-17 million iPhone 16 units are ready for the pre-order phase.
It is worth noting that 17 million iPhone 16 units are prepared to be delivered to customers on September 20 – the first day of the global iPhone 16 launch. As not everyone will buy the iPhone 16 online, some will be available for direct purchase at Apple stores, carriers, or agents.
While there may be more opportunities to own an iPhone 16 Pro Max compared to other versions, popular colors, and base storage options may sell out early. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be snapped up quickly, so those interested should consider making a decision soon. Otherwise, they may have to wait until October to receive their new phone.
