With the Mid-Autumn Festival just a few days away, the streets of Hanoi are bustling with excitement. One particular spot that has been drawing large crowds is the Ba Phuong Moon Cake shop on Thuy Khue street. In the lead up to this important Vietnamese holiday, the usually quiet street has been transformed into a vibrant marketplace with people flocking to purchase their favorite festive treats.

As the festival draws near, the two Ba Phuong Moon Cake shops have seen an influx of customers, with lines stretching out the door and down the block. The dedicated fans of these delicious treats don’t mind the wait, queuing up to buy just a few boxes or even a dozen to share with their loved ones. The traditional delicacy is so popular that the shops only accept cash payments, leading to a few rushed trips to the ATM for some eager customers.

The line of customers continued well past 8 pm, a testament to the popularity of these moon cakes.

Just a short distance from the first Ba Phuong shop, the second branch is also buzzing with activity. Customers are pouring in, and the staff are working diligently to keep up with the demand, ensuring a steady supply of freshly baked moon cakes.

Both branches of Ba Phuong Moon Cakes are bustling with customers.

In previous years, especially before 2022, it was common to see long lines at Ba Phuong Moon Cake shops a month before the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, in 2023 and this year, 2024, the shops experienced a noticeable lull in customers until just a few weeks before the festival. Many speculated that people were waiting until the last minute to buy their moon cakes, and they were right! With only a few days left until the festival, both branches are once again bustling with excited customers.
