Speaking at the Conference, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Sovico Group’s Board of Directors and Chairwoman of Vietjet Aviation, shared that Vietjet currently operates a fleet of over 100 new and modern fuel-efficient aircraft, adorned with the red and yellow flag of Vietnam, the melodies of “Hello Vietnam” and “Hanoi Melody,” and the symbol of Vietnam Tourism. With more than 200 million passengers carried, nearly 150 routes across Vietnam and internationally, Vietjet has been a driving force for innovation in the aviation industry, from technical fuel and oil to flight operations, revitalizing local airports, and attracting foreign investment in training, technology, and production of aircraft components.

Sovico and Vietjet have established the Innovation Hub, bringing Vietnamese brands to the world and promoting Phở Thìn and Vietnamese bánh mì on their flights to introduce them to international customers. With the spirit of taking Vietnamese aircraft to the world, Vietjet has established Vietjet Thailand, operating 20 aircraft and becoming one of the leading airlines in Thailand. The Chairwoman of Vietjet also highlighted that in Vietnam, the airline contributes 30-40% of the revenue of state-owned aviation service and fuel companies. In 2023, the carrier served 6.8 million international visitors, promoting tourism with new routes bringing in new customers from India (with a population of 1.4 billion), Indonesia (300 million), Australia, and Kazakhstan (the gateway to Russia and Central Asia with 200 million people).

Recently, Vietjet has transited passengers from India and Kazakhstan through Vietnam to Australia and Indonesia. Vietnam has also become a center for aviation human resources and technology. The Vietjet Aviation Academy, a modern and leading facility in the region, collaborates with Airbus to train 50,000 trainees annually.

Entrepreneur Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao shared, “Businesses should dream big and turn Vietnam into a regional and global aviation development hub. With our favorable location, let’s urgently invest in and upgrade our international airport system to become a transit center for passengers and goods, just like Bangkok, Singapore, and South Korea.”

The female billionaire affirmed that Vietnam has the conditions and capabilities to build a hangar infrastructure for a regional aircraft technical service center at one of its airports. Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao shared that Vietnamese enterprises have started producing aircraft components. With a large number of aircraft orders, Vietnam is in a position to become a hub for component manufacturing, developing auxiliary industries, and assembling aircraft, similar to how China produces components for Boeing and assembles Airbus planes.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao also affirmed her determination to contribute to achieving the government’s growth targets. She confirmed that the Sovico Group and companies like Vietjet would continue their relentless efforts to promote the sustainable development of Vietnam’s aviation and tourism industries. The female billionaire expressed her belief in a bright future for Vietnam’s economy, driven by the pioneering spirit of aviation, tourism enterprises, and patriotic entrepreneurs, and called for collective action to bring this future closer.
