The Da Nang Construction Department has informed the People’s Committee of Hai Chau District and the wards of the results of the inspection of nine housing blocks in the area.
These housing blocks were mostly allocated to workers and officials of companies and enterprises in the city several decades ago.
Among the inspected housing blocks, six were rated as dangerous level C and require timely repairs. The remaining blocks were rated at level B and can continue to be used for the next 5-7 years.

The housing block at 109 Thanh Thuy, Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang, built between 1975 and 1977, has exceeded its lifespan. Relocating residents is crucial to ensure their safety.

According to a resident, this housing block was previously arranged for railway company workers. Due to the deterioration of some units, many residents have moved out, while others remain, awaiting relocation arrangements.

Since 2014, residents of 109 Thanh Thuy have repeatedly petitioned the authorities. While meetings and discussions have been held, a resolution is yet to be reached.

Residents shared their plight during the rainy season, as concrete continues to fall, posing a threat to their lives after each rainfall.
The housing block at 103 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Thanh Binh Ward, was also rated as dangerous level C. This two-story block has three units on the second floor, each divided into two rooms, accommodating single individuals or families.

Ms. Tam, whose sister lives in the 103 Nguyen Tat Thanh housing block, mentioned that four people share a living space of about 15 square meters. This block was previously allocated to workers of a nearby garment factory.

Most of the construction items in this housing block are severely degraded, with cracked walls and dilapidated entrances.

On the second floor, six households share a small bathroom, while the toilet is located on the first floor, making daily life extremely challenging for the residents.

The old corrugated roof has not been maintained for a long time, resulting in leaks during the rainy season and unbearable heat in the summer.

The housing block K33/21 Cao Thang, Thanh Binh Ward, is in a severe state of disrepair and rated as level C. The Da Nang Construction Department emphasized the need for timely repairs and reinforcement of dangerous components and local damage before further use.

Repairs and reinforcement of old housing blocks must be designed and executed by qualified units as per regulations.

The housing block at 24 Le Dinh Tham, Hoa Thuan Dong Ward, Hai Chau District, rated as level C, can be used for another 2-3 years.
The Da Nang Construction Department requested the People’s Committee of Hai Chau District to inform the residents of the inspected housing blocks about the inspection results and relevant legal regulations.
Housing blocks and apartments rated as levels B and C can continue to be used normally for 2-7 years (depending on the quality of each unit) and do not fall into the category of structures that need to be demolished.
