On September 16, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province issued Decision No. 2685/QD-UBND approving the task of constructing a master plan for the development of Bac Tan Uyen district by 2040. This decision supersedes Decision No. 497/QD-UBND dated March 8, 2023.

Bac Tan Uyen district covers an area of 40,030 hectares and comprises two towns (Tan Thanh and Tan Binh) and eight communes (Binh My, Tan Lap, Dat Cuoc, Tan Dinh, Hieu Liêm, Lac An, Thuong Tan, and Tan My). According to the 2022 Statistical Yearbook, Bac Tan Uyen has an average population of 86,482 people, making it the lowest-populated district in the province.

The district’s population is projected to reach approximately 180,000 – 250,000 by 2030 and around 300,000 by 2040.

Bac Tan Uyen is envisioned to develop in the direction of industry-urban-eco-agriculture. By 2030, the district is expected to have four urban areas: Tan Thanh town, which will meet the criteria for a Type IV city; Tan Binh town as a Type V city; and the recognition of Binh My and Tan Lap as Type V cities. The goal is to build modern and sustainable cities, aspiring towards Type IV status.

During the 2030-2050 period, the focus will be on elevating the standards of Bac Tan Uyen’s urban areas to meet the requirements of a Type IV city and establishing Bac Tan Uyen as a town.

The goal is to transform Bac Tan Uyen into a robust economic and social hub, becoming the eastern growth pole of Binh Duong province, linked to regional transportation. This development aims to facilitate the district’s progression into a town during the 2030-2040 period.

On the economic front, the People’s Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district held its 46th periodic meeting on September 17 to assess the performance of socio-economic development, national defense, and security in the first nine months of 2024. The meeting also outlined tasks for the last three months of the year and discussed other important matters.

In the first nine months, the district maintained growth in the value of agricultural, industrial, and commercial service production compared to the same period last year. Infrastructure development remained a key focus, with continued investment.

The estimated value of agricultural production reached VND 2,036 billion, representing a 2.72% increase compared to the previous year and achieving 67.62% of the annual plan. The value of industrial production amounted to VND 5,053 billion, reflecting a significant rise of 13.73% year-on-year and attaining 74.95% of the annual target.

Total retail sales of goods and services were estimated at VND 4,797 billion, indicating a robust increase of 15.67% year-on-year and reaching 75.59% of the annual plan. Capital disbursement in the district is estimated to have exceeded VND 134.7 billion, equivalent to 62.3% of the plan.
