On the afternoon of September 24, as part of the 2nd annual Friendship Dialogue in 2024, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a ceremony to unveil the International Friendship Symbol at Ben Bach Dang Park in District 1. This event marked the strong cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 58 international partners and localities.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, Vo Van Hoan, affirmed that the symbol would be a vivid testament to the city’s vision in elevating its foreign affairs efforts. It also conveys a message of welcome, openness, and aspiration to reach out to the world, together building a future of peace and prosperity.

“The presence of international delegates at today’s event clearly demonstrates the friendship and mutual trust that serve as a solid foundation for our continued joint success. As we behold this International Friendship Symbol, let us together cherish the connecting values that we have cultivated and continue to foster, striving towards a brighter future where peace, prosperity, and collaboration endure,” expressed Vo Van Hoan.

According to the City People’s Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City International Friendship Symbol is not just a work of art but a vibrant emblem of friendship, unity, and long-lasting cooperation between the city and 58 localities worldwide. The idea behind the symbol stems from the desire for international friends to feel a sense of closeness, appreciation, and pride when visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

In terms of design, the most prominent feature at the top of the International Friendship Symbol is the Mobius strip, symbolizing infinity and representing continuous and sustainable development without cessation. This serves as a gateway connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the world and vice versa. With advanced 3D mapping technology and a water membrane, the Mobius strip not only signifies connection but also serves as a medium to showcase cultural and artistic images, introducing the beauty and hospitality of Ho Chi Minh City to international friends.

It also sends a message of welcome and openness to the world, along with a desire to build a future of peace and shared prosperity.

Following the unveiling ceremony, international delegates joined the city’s leaders on a stroll through Ben Bach Dang Park, enjoying the cityscape. They then had a hands-on experience in mixing and savoring the famous egg coffee at Cafe Trung 3T (1A Ton Duc Thang, District 1).
