On September 27th, at the 18th meeting of the 10th HĐND session of Ho Chi Minh City, delegates approved the investment policy for the expansion project of the expressway approach road to Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2). The construction is expected to commence in 2025 and be completed within a year.
According to the set plan, from the second to the third quarter of 2024, the project will undergo proposal development, appraisal, and approval for investment policy. The fourth quarter of 2024 to the first quarter of 2025 will involve the preparation and submission of the feasibility study report to the competent authorities for appraisal and approval. The project is expected to break ground in the third quarter of 2025 and be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.

The project has a total investment of 938.9 billion VND, funded by the Ho Chi Minh City budget. One advantage of this project is the absence of land clearance requirements, as it has been previously addressed.
The over-3km-long approach road from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 in Thu Duc City will be widened to achieve a complete scale of eight lanes.
More than 2km of the road, along with Mương Kênh Bridge and the overpass crossing Đỗ Xuân Hợp Street, will be synchronously widened. The project is considered advantageous due to minimal land clearance requirements.
This approach road plays a crucial role in connecting the North-South expressway mainline to Ho Chi Minh City. This section also directly links to the An Phu intersection, one of the most complex and congested areas in the city.
