On the afternoon of September 27, the Police of Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh Province, informed that they had just started legal proceedings and prosecuted seven defendants, including: Pham Minh Nhat (DOB 1987, residing in District 8), Nguyen Thi Tuong Oanh (DOB 1977, residing in Tan Phu District) and her husband Ngo Quang Vinh (DOB 1976); Nguyen Thong Tin (DOB 1987); Ho Thai Danh (DOB 1987), Tran Van Chinh (DOB 1992); and Hoang Van Duong (DOB 1988). All the defendants are from Ho Chi Minh City, and they are being charged with “Trading Counterfeit Goods” and “Forging and Using Fake Documents of Agencies and Organizations.”
According to the investigation agency, based on the expansion of the investigation of a fraud case using a fake mobile phone as collateral to borrow VND 10 million that occurred in the area, the Thach Ha District Police established a specialized case with the secret code “0524G” to further investigate and clarify the case.
After a period of surveillance and using professional measures, the functional forces identified Pham Minh Nhat as the provider of the fake mobile phones and fake purchase invoices.
The investigation agency determined that Nhat frequently traded in fake mobile phones with Oanh. From there, the police traced a ring specializing in trading fake mobile phones originating from China.
On September 12, the specialized case team mobilized more than 40 officers and divided them into seven groups to simultaneously inspect and arrest Nhat, Oanh, and Ngo Quang Vinh (Oanh’s husband). At the same time, four other subjects, Tin, Danh, Chinh, and Duong, were summoned for questioning.
Upon searching the residences of the defendants, the case team seized more than 6,000 counterfeit and imitation mobile phones of brands such as iPhone, Samsung, and OPPO, along with more than 100 boxes of various phone accessories. Additionally, a fake invoice printer, a computer used for invoice modification, and ten fake invoices were confiscated from Nhat’s house.
The case is currently being completed by the competent authorities for handling the defendants in accordance with the law.
