Vietcombank has announced that, according to the Law on Identity Cards 2023 (Law No. 26/2023/QH15), identity cards (including both 9-digit and 12-digit types) will remain valid for use in procedures and transactions until December 31, 2024.
According to Circulars 17/2024/TT-NHNN and 18/2024/TT-NHNN of the State Bank, from January 1, 2025, payment account holders/bank cardholders will have their online transactions (money transfers, bill payments, top-ups, etc.) and cash withdrawal/transfer transactions at ATMs temporarily suspended if:
1) Biometric information has not been updated;
2) New information replacing expired personal documents (ID cards, CCCDs, Passports, Visas) has not been provided.
To ensure uninterrupted transactions, Vietcombank recommends that customers who have not yet updated their biometric information and/or their new identity card/CCCD with a chip (still valid) do so immediately via the VCB Digibank application. During the biometric information update process, customers will also be able to update their latest personal document information.
Additionally, customers can update their biometric information and/or personal documents at any Vietcombank transaction point nationwide.
Vietcombank also notes that customers only need to update their biometric information and valid personal documents (ID card/CCCD with a chip) once at the bank. When biometric information changes or the ID card/CCCD expires, customers need to provide supplementary updates.
For foreign customers who do not have an ID card/CCCD with a chip and are not included in the national population database, it is necessary to visit any Vietcombank transaction point with a passport and valid residence proof to update their biometric information and personal document details.
