The construction of the new Phuoc Long Bridge, connecting Nha Be District and District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, resumed after being temporarily halted due to land clearance issues. The project, which began in 2020, aims to improve transportation and connectivity between these two areas.
The new Phuoc Long Bridge project, managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Infrastructure Investment and Construction Management Board, features a design that includes a length of 359 meters, a width of 10.5 meters, and approach roads on both sides measuring 120 meters in length and 30 meters in width.
Due to additional land clearance costs, the total investment for the new Phuoc Long Bridge project has been adjusted from nearly VND 398 billion to VND 748 billion. Of this, compensation, land clearance, and infrastructure relocation costs have increased from VND 166 billion to VND 515 billion.

Currently, the bridge piers and abutments are completed, and 7 out of 9 bridge spans have been installed.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Infrastructure Investment and Construction Management Board, the Phuoc Long Bridge project has completed over 80% of the total workload. The construction unit has finished work on the road foundation and retaining wall on the Nha Be District side and is now focusing on the remaining work in District 7.
The Phuoc Long Bridge is located next to the existing narrow bridge with only two lanes. Local residents shared that traffic congestion is a frequent occurrence during peak hours on this route.
The completion of the new Phuoc Long Bridge project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on Pham Huu Lau Street. Additionally, it will enhance the connection between Nha Be District and District 7, as well as improve access to the major roads of Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Huu Tho.
