The Future of Science and Technology: VinFuture Week and Award Ceremony 2024

The VinFuture Science and Technology Week is an international event, featuring renowned global figures in critical fields such as materials science, artificial intelligence, air pollution, and environmental research. The highlight of this event is the VinFuture Awards Ceremony, honoring scientists with outstanding achievements who are contributing to the lives of millions, if not billions, of people on Earth.

Now in its fourth year, the VinFuture Science-Technology Week and Awards Ceremony have become one of the most anticipated annual events in the global scientific community.

This year, VinFuture embraces the message of “Resilient Breakthrough,” signifying humanity’s resilient breakthrough of challenges through the door of science and technology towards a more prosperous future. The week comprises four main activities: “Science for Life Symposium,” “VinFuture Future Discovery Dialogue Series,” “VinFuture Awards Ceremony,” and “Meet and Greet with VinFuture Prize Laureates.”

Kicking off the event series is the “Science for Life Symposium,” taking place over two days, December 4-5, with four sessions: “Materials for a Sustainable Future,” “Deploying AI in Practice,” “Air Pollution and Traffic: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam and the World,” and “Innovations in Cardiovascular Care and Stroke Treatment.”

The 2024 VinFuture Awards Ceremony continues to honor inventors of groundbreaking projects that shape the future.

Running parallel to the scientific symposiums, the “VinFuture Future Discovery Dialogue Series” serves as a vital bridge, connecting leading global scientists with research institutes, universities, and businesses in Vietnam. These dialogues will focus on seeking solutions to global challenges and fostering research collaborations on topics such as “New Approaches to Control and Manage Hypertension,” “Sustainable Farming Techniques Adapting to Climate Change,” “Innovations in Solar Energy and Advanced Materials,” and “Women in Science for a Sustainable Energy Future and Green Environment.”

On the evening of December 6, the VinFuture Awards Ceremony 2024, the highly anticipated event by the global scientific community, will officially take place at the Ho Guom Theater. This momentous occasion celebrates groundbreaking inventions and technologies, carefully selected from nearly 1,500 research projects nominated by over 9,000 partners from more than 80 countries and territories worldwide.

Immediately following the Awards Ceremony is the “Greet the Future: Meet and Greet with VinFuture Prize Laureates” event, held on December 7. During this full-day program, the laureates will dedicate the morning to sharing their extensive knowledge and inspiring stories about their research journeys with the Vietnamese public and scientific community. The afternoon will feature presentations on specific scientific themes for outstanding young scientists and businesses interested in applying research outcomes in practice.

In September 2024, the InnovaConnect Workshop, organized by the VinFuture Foundation in collaboration with the University of Public Health, attracted nearly 500 participants, including leading domestic and international experts. The workshop focused on the theme “Preventing the Harm of New Tobacco Products: Scientific Evidence and Experiences from Vietnam and Worldwide.”

Another special highlight of this year’s event series is the VinFuture Foundation’s first expression of gratitude towards the nominating partners, who are esteemed scientists. These individuals have provided invaluable support in identifying, nominating, and honoring projects and technological solutions that significantly impact humanity. The scientists will share their motivations for participating in the nomination process, inspired by VinFuture’s far-reaching vision and noble mission.

After four years of operation, the VinFuture Award has increasingly asserted its position as one of the world’s most prestigious scientific awards, sharing a similar vision with long-standing, renowned awards. The VinFuture Award not only connects brilliant minds worldwide with the domestic scientific community but also plays a crucial role in promoting, inspiring, and driving the development of the country’s science and technology sector.
