This morning, November 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Transportation Construction Projects (abbreviated as the Transport Project Management Board, the investor) officially inaugurated the Rach Dia Bridge Project (connecting District 7 and Nha Be District).

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Project Management Board, said that the Rach Dia Bridge construction project has a total investment of VND 512 billion, of which the construction cost is VND 146 billion, and the compensation, support, and resettlement cost is VND 290 billion.

The project aims to build a new Rach Dia Bridge to replace the existing old iron bridge, which no longer meets the load-bearing requirements. The new bridge will improve traffic conditions in the area, reduce congestion, ensure traffic safety, and boost socio-economic development in the southern part of the city.

After more than a year of focused implementation of compensation and site clearance, with the attention and direction of the City Party Committee and People’s Committee, together with the coordination of relevant departments, the involvement of the entire political system of the two localities, and the support and consensus of the people of District 7 and Nha Be District, 100% of the site has been handed over to the investor as of September 2023.

After 17 months of concentrated construction, the new Rach Dia Bridge has been completed and inspected by the Department of Transportation, which has approved its opening to traffic and put it into operation to serve the people, one month ahead of the scheduled date of December 31, 2024.

“The inauguration and opening of the Rach Dia Bridge to the public today, along with the inauguration of the Long Kieng Bridge in September 2023 and the expected commencement of the Rach Tom Bridge project in April 2025 and the Rach Doi Bridge project in December 2025, will contribute to the realization of the goal of replacing four weak bridges (Rach Dia, Long Kieng, Rach Tom, and Rach Doi) along Le Van Luong Street and enhancing transportation connectivity with Long An Province,” said Mr. Luong Minh Phuc.
