Approximately 80% of gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City are currently connected to the tax department’s data system for invoice issuance.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, they are participating in an inter-agency inspection team for the city’s gasoline and oil market. The team will cross-reference data from fuel dispensers with invoices issued by retailers.
In case the inspection team detects any violations by gasoline and oil businesses, such as failure to issue electronic invoices for goods and services sold, issuance of electronic invoices not in accordance with the time regulations, or violation of the provisions of Decree No. 125/2020/ND-CP regarding the transfer of electronic invoice data beyond the prescribed time limit, penalties will be imposed as per regulations.
To avoid cases of non-issuance of electronic invoices, late issuance, or delayed data transfer to the tax authority, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department recommends that gasoline and oil retailers implement automatic data connection solutions to issue electronic invoices for each sale, thereby minimizing human intervention and contributing to fraud prevention in the retail gasoline and oil business.
In case of any difficulties or obstacles, gasoline and oil enterprises should promptly contact the directly managing tax authority, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Standards, Metrology, and Quality for timely handling.
A leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department said that while 100% of gas stations in the city issue retail invoices to customers, only about 80% of them are connected to the tax authority’s data system for automatic invoice issuance. The remaining stations still manually enter sales information and issue invoices through POS machines or computers.
