On December 16, Shopee Vietnam announced that on December 12, the last super sale of the year, the number of products sold via Shopee Live and Shopee Video increased by nine times compared to an average day.

With the year-end festivities approaching, usersโ€™ demand for beauty and self-care products surged. As a result, skincare and makeup products were among the top five best-selling categories, with sales volume increasing by seven to eight times the usual rate.

Moreover, through the โ€œFree Shipping Feeโ€ program, Shopee helped users save a whopping 840 billion VND in shipping costs throughout the 12-12 event.

According to Shopee Vietnam, over 24 million products were sold in rural areas, demonstrating the rapid expansion of e-commerce during the 12-12 super sale.

While Lazada and TiktokShop have not disclosed official figures, industry insiders estimate significant numbers as this was the last major promotion of the year, with many consumers taking advantage of the opportunity to shop for holiday and New Year festivities.

On December 12, e-commerce platforms launched their biggest year-end promotions, offering discounts of up to 90%. TikTok Shop offered discounts of 16-20%, along with gifts for live stream viewers. Lazada provided vouchers worth up to 1 million VND for orders over 2 million VND. Shopee celebrated its birthday with deep discounts, giving away 120 plane tickets and special offers like free shipping and 50% discounts for first-time buyers via Shopee Video. These promotions attracted a continuous stream of consumers.

Shopee Vietnam reported a ninefold increase in sales via Shopee Live and Shopee Video compared to an average day.

Ms. Thรบy Hแป“ng from Ho Chi Minh City shared that she purchased seven orders, including cosmetics, clothing, and handbags, on the livestream, spending nearly 4 million VND on the night of December 12.

โ€œItโ€™s incredibly affordable! Live commerce influencer Vรต Hร  Linh offered an 83% discount on cosmetics, reducing the price from 798,000 VND to 135,000 VND. Clothing and other items were also discounted by 20-30%, with some brands offering up to 40% off, making them much cheaper than offline purchases. I teamed up with my friends to hunt for sales, with each person focusing on a different platform. We shared the best deals in our group and bought them for each other, resulting in a long list of orders,โ€ she excitedly explained.

Mr. Nguyแป…n Hoร ng, an office worker in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, also shared that he placed almost 10 orders totaling over 10 million VND, including discounts, in just one night on December 12.

According to seasoned sale hunters, while there were indeed many discounted products on December 12, the actual discounts ranged from 5-20%, contrary to the advertised 90% figure. To get the best prices, consumers needed to be diligent in hunting for promo codes. Additionally, some shops still offered prices higher than the market rate, and fake discounts remained prevalent, so buyers needed to be cautious and compare and verify information before finalizing their purchases.
