Hyundai Grand i10 2024

In mid-June, Hyundai unveiled the 2024 Grand i10 in Vietnam. Despite being just a mid-cycle refresh with minor design and equipment updates, the car is still offered in six different versions, with retail prices ranging from a competitive 360 million VND to 455 million VND.

The facelifted model features subtle design tweaks, mainly to the grille, fog lights, and taillights. It continues to be offered in both hatchback and sedan body styles. Inside, the car boasts an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a USB-C port. The new i10 also displays individual tire pressure readings on the instrument cluster.

In recent years, there has been a growing preference for taller crossover-style vehicles, which has impacted sales of traditional hatchback and sedan models like the Grand i10. However, the i10 has maintained its popularity, with cumulative sales from January to November 2024 reaching 5,080 units, outpacing rivals such as the Toyota Wigo and Kia Morning.

Wuling Bingo

The Wuling Bingo, introduced to the Vietnamese market in early November, is the second electric vehicle to be distributed by TMT Motors. With four different versions available, the company is initially offering two variants: the 333km and 410km ranges, priced at 399 million VND and 469 million VND, respectively.

The remaining two versions, offering 203km and 510km ranges, will be released later. The 510km version will feature an SUV body style, while the other three will be hatchbacks.

Sized in the A-segment, the Bingo measures 3,950 mm in length and 1,708 mm in width, similar to competitors like the Hyundai Grand i10 and Kia Morning. However, the Bingo is an electric vehicle, which may still be a concern for some buyers.

While the Bingo supports fast charging, its charging port follows the GB/T standard used in China, whereas charging stations in Vietnam use the CCS2 standard. To use fast charging, owners will need to purchase a GB/T to CCS2 adapter, which TMT Motors plans to sell, although the price has not yet been announced. These adapters are currently available in the market for around 20 to 30 million VND.

VinFast VF 3

One of the most talked-about vehicles of 2024 is the VinFast VF 3, the smallest model in the VinFast lineup. When orders opened, the VF 3 received over 27,000 reservations. In October alone, VinFast delivered 5,000 VF 3s to customers, setting a record for monthly sales in Vietnam for the year.

The VF 3 has a suggested retail price of just 240 million VND without the battery or 322 million VND with the battery, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market.

In addition to its competitive pricing, the VF 3 has attracted buyers with its SUV-like styling and eye-catching design. Its interior features a 10-inch touchscreen, and its electric motor produces 43.5 horsepower. The VF 3 offers an estimated range of 210 km on a single charge.

These three vehicles represent some of the most notable launches in the Vietnamese automotive market in 2024, offering a mix of value, innovation, and style that has resonated with local consumers.
