According to a recent survey on salary trends conducted by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, involving 1,570 enterprises (employing 310,444 workers), the average monthly income of employees in the city in 2024 reached 12.4 million VND.
Amongst these, state-owned enterprises offered the highest average salaries, at 12.9 million VND per month.
On the other hand, privately-owned enterprises provided the lowest average salaries, at 12.2 million VND per month.
Employees in state-owned limited liability companies and foreign-invested enterprises earned an average of 12.5 million VND per month.
The highest salary in 2024 was 863 million VND per month, equivalent to over 10.3 billion VND per year. This salary was earned by an employee working in a foreign-invested enterprise.
In the remaining groups, the highest salaries ranged from 64.4 million VND to 471 million VND per month.
Conversely, the lowest salaries in foreign-invested enterprises were 6.3 million VND per month, 6 million VND in private enterprises, 7.3 million VND in state-owned joint-stock companies, and 7 million VND in state-owned limited liability companies.
In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Human Resources Forecast and Labor Market Information (Falmi) also conducted a survey on labor demand and quality among 15,500 enterprises, with a total of 475,818 employees. The results showed that the average income of managerial staff was approximately 13.22 million VND per month, indirect labor was 11.17 million VND, and direct labor was 10.88 million VND.
Regarding labor demand by salary level in 2024, jobs offering salaries below 5 million VND per month accounted for 24.77% of the total labor demand, mainly in positions such as sales staff, advisors, product introducers, and servers.
Jobs with salaries ranging from 5 to 10 million VND per month made up 49.53% of the total labor demand, including positions such as office administrators, garment workers, purchasers, accountants, warehouse keepers, electricians, store managers, marketers, and customer service staff.
Positions offering salaries from 10 to 15 million VND per month accounted for 16.42% of the total labor demand, including roles such as marketing staff, insurance advisors, nurses, import-export staff, real estate agents, data processors, graphic designers, and interior designers.
Jobs with salaries ranging from 15 to 20 million VND per month made up 3.61% of the total labor demand, including positions such as mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, water supply and drainage designers, programmers, real estate sales team leaders, financial advisors, chief accountants, training managers, software engineers, doctors, and construction supervisors.
Lastly, jobs offering salaries above 20 million VND per month accounted for 5.67% of the total labor demand, mainly in senior positions such as chief financial officers, supply chain managers, marketing directors, quality control managers, architects, project directors, and electromechanical site commanders.
