On March 10, our sources informed us that the Investigative Police Agency of the Cần Thơ City Public Security had decided to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Đặng Minh Thừa (48 years old), the Southern Branch Deputy Director of the State Capital Investment and Business Corporation in the Southern region, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CIPCO Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company.
With the approval of the Cần Thơ City People’s Procuracy, the Cần Thơ City Public Security also searched Mr. Thừa’s residence in Ho Chi Minh City.

The prosecution and detention of Mr. Thừa is a result of the expanded investigation into the case of abuse of position and power to appropriate assets at CIPCO, with Mr. Thừa being investigated for the act of bribery.
As previously reported, the Investigative Police Agency of Cần Thơ City Public Security had initiated legal proceedings and prosecuted Mr. Trần Văn Phúc, the General Director, along with the Chief Accountant and employees of the Business Planning Department of CIPCO Infrastructure Construction JSC for the offense of abuse of position and power to appropriate assets.
The case is currently under further investigation by the competent authorities.
