The Hanoi People’s Committee has approved a plan to construct an elevated bridge connecting Ho Thuy Tu and Dam Tri, along with the renovation and expansion of surrounding roads around West Lake.

The expansion and renovation are expected to improve traffic flow and cater to future urban development needs. The plan also aims to enhance the urban landscape, creating a convenient living and working environment for residents and visitors alike.

The proposal includes the streets of Quan An and Tu Hoa, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity around West Lake. The road width will be expanded to 21 meters, triple its current size.

The current Tu Hoa and Quang An streets have a narrow road width of 5-8 meters with tight curves, often causing traffic congestion.

This area is also a popular destination for international tourists, offering a range of experiences and accommodations. Many investors are developing apartments and mini-hotels in the area, with rental prices ranging from 30 to 40 million VND per month.

Regarding the construction of the bridge connecting Ho Thuy Tu and Dam Tri, Hanoi authorities emphasize the need for the highest aesthetic standards, aiming for the smallest and most beautiful design while ensuring functionality and minimizing impact on the lake.

Dam Tri is a small lake within the West Lake complex, spanning over 6 hectares.

Dam Tri Lake fronts Quang Khanh Street, adjacent to West Lake, with its back facing Dang Thai Mai Street and Ngõ Dam Tri.

According to the plan, a 13,578-square-meter opera house will be constructed on Dam Tri Lake, within the Quang An peninsula. The estimated investment for this project is approximately 12,756 billion VND (equivalent to 500 million USD)

Ho Thuy Tu borders West Lake in Quang An Ward, with a shoreline spanning 1.5 to 2.5 meters.

Ho Thuy Tu originated from a pond or lake managed by the People’s Committee of Quang An Ward for many years.

Currently, to travel from Ho Thuy Tu to Dam Tri, residents have to cover a distance of over 1.6 kilometers along the lakeside road.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has also proposed studying the water levels of West Lake during different seasons, exploring color schemes for the road, and integrating greenery and lighting. Additionally, they are calling for a comprehensive study of the road around West Lake, determining lane configurations, and allocating space for pedestrians and greenery along Nguyen Dinh Thi and Trich Sai streets.

West Lake spans over 527 hectares, with a circumference of approximately 19 kilometers. The lake’s technical infrastructure is well-developed, including retaining walls, walking paths, drainage systems, lighting, and greenery.

Surrounding the lake and its vicinity are 22 historical and cultural relics, along with several renowned craft villages.
