Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, and other dignitaries attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hochiminh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh Expressway, held by the Peopleโs Committee of Binh Duong province. This event marked the first in a series of inspections and inaugurations of significant transportation infrastructure projects by the Prime Minister.
The expressway, spanning 59.2 kilometers, will connect Hochiminh City to Thu Dau Mot in Binh Duong province and Chon Thanh in Binh Phuoc province. With an investment of VND 17,400 billion, the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2027, featuring four lanes and advanced construction standards. This public-private partnership (PPP) endeavor is undertaken by a consortium of prominent investors, including Becamex IDC, Becamex IJC, BCMC, and Deo Ca Group.
Addressing the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized the strategic importance of this expressway for the economic development of Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, and Dak Nong provinces. He urged relevant authorities to expedite the construction process, setting an ambitious target for completion by September 2, 2026. The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for simultaneous progress on complementary road projects, such as the Chon Thanh-Gia Nghia Expressway, connecting the Central Highlands with the Southeast region, and other key transportation initiatives in the area.
The ceremony also witnessed the handing over of investment certificates for seven social housing projects and eight foreign-invested projects, reflecting the provinceโs commitment to providing affordable housing and attracting foreign investment.
